Majority of Independent Voters Want Someone New in White House

By Brad O'Leary and Tim McGinnis

Washington, D.C. — A new poll conducted by Zogby International gives President Obama more bad news on the heels of sagging job approval numbers. The Poll, conducted June 25-28 of 2,061 likely voters, found a majority of voters feel it's time for someone new in the White House.

The Zogby Poll asked:

Do you think President Obama deserves to be re-elected or do you think it is time for someone new?

Overall, 50% of voters say it is time for someone new in the White House while just 41% think President Obama should be re-elected.

Among Independents, 55% say it is time for someone new, while only 35% feel the President should be re-elected.

Among those who had to pay taxes last year, 53% say it is time for someone new, while 50% of those who did not have to pay taxes last year (due to low income or deductions that left them with no tax liability) feel the president should be re-elected.

Nearly 95% of NRA members, 89% of Tea Party followers and 56% of small business owners or partners say it is time for someone new in the White House. Only 4% of NRA members, 8% of Tea Party followers and 38% of small business owners or partners think President Obama deserves to be re-elected.

The Zogby International Poll was commissioned by The O'Leary Report newsletter. The Poll surveyed 2,061 voters June 25-28, and has a margin-of-error of plus-or-minus 2.2 percentage points. To view full Poll results and crosstabs, go to OLearyReport.com.
